Pore extractions offer an excellent way to clear breakouts, unseat clogged follicles, and reduce the formation of blemishes in the future. Patients may receive pore extractions separately or as part of a chemical peel. Active acne lesions (whiteheads, blackheads and pustules) may be safely extracted to clear the clogged follicle. Sanitary methods are used which are more effective than trying to extract acne lesions at home.
Incorrect home self-manipulation can lead to post-inflammatory hyper-pigmentation (red-brown spots) or scarring. An extraction session can be performed alone or at the same time as a chemical peel to interrupt the break-out cycle.
